Main topics of the ISO week in Germany
Rapidly increasing digitalization presents standardization with new challenges. The needs of our stakeholders have changed and will continue to change – often at a fast pace. Yet at the same time, digitalization presents new opportunities for the development and provision of standards. It is essential that we face these new challenges head-on and take advantage of the opportunities to best meet the needs of our stakeholders in the future as well. If we don't do it, others certainly will.
Therefore the focus of the Open Session and the Open Zone at the ISO week in Germany was layed on four main topics that seem particularly important for the future viability of our organizations.
- How do we recognize innovative standardization topics of the future?
How do we know which topics will become important for our stakeholders and if there is a need for standardization – before someone else takes on these issues?
- How do we get young people excited about standardization?
How do we make sure that we have the best experts working on every standardization topic, even in the future?
- How will the TC of the future work?
Which new technologies can we use to increase the efficiency of our collaborative work and to perhaps bring in experts who were not previously interested in participating? Are our current structures sustainable?
- How do we work together with other organizations?
How does the ISO community cooperate with IEC and with forums and consortia in times where standards topics cannot be neatly divided into sectors?
